Twelve-year-old Kyla Middleton is the recipient of a $20,000 scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association. The talented Medford teenager spent some childhood years with her mother and two siblings at a homeless shelter. In spite of her hardship, she was still a top academic performer in her class.
