Johnathan Carr grew up in Medford and graduated from Emerson College in 2004 with a bachelor of arts in filmmaking. He has written, produced, and directed four feature length movies on digital video as well as numerous short films. While at Emerson he co-founded WARLORDS a production club devoted to making action films, received an EVVY award for a 16mm short, and an EVVY nomination for a TV series that aired on the Emerson Channel.

In 2005 he received an artist grant from the Mass Cultural Council for his film "CANDYFLIP",a documentary on substance abuse which premiered in 2007 at the Doc Kountze Film Festival.

For the past two years has worked with the 8th grade drama class at the Cambridge Friends School demonstrating the basics of drama tech and filmmaking and assisting multimedia theatre productions.

Currently, he is producing promotional videos for ZHURA.COM, a collaborative screenwriting website providing online customer support for members, and generating solutions to improve user interface.

This year's entries for the 2008 Doc Kountze Film/Arts Festival are two promos filmed for ZHURA titled, "Our Movie" which won "Best Zhura Informercial 2007" and "Writers' Dilemma", a one minute commercial which aired on regional cable channels in Boston, Allston and Cambridge in December.
